Our Little Graduate

Today was Safety Town graduation.  Ella was pretty sure she should dress up for her graduation.

The kids sang the songs they learned everyday that helped them remember safety tips.

The playground was turned into a little town with streets, stop signs, buildings, etc.  They practiced some of their safety tips on these bikes.  The bikes had seat belts and they had to buckle up, then try to follow the safety rules while they rode around.

Safety Town

Ella attended Safety Town in the mornings this week.  She has learned a lot about how to be safe in various circumstances.  Yesterday she came home and told us, "I'm not supposed to take another kid's medicine."  They were going on a field trip to the police station and fire station today, so Ella was super excited to ride a school bus!

Ella is starting to look pretty big!  Sigh...

Fun in the Fairgrounds

After Ella's ragball game yesterday, we went to an event at our fairgrounds that was free for kids.  There were lots of booths they could visit, hunting dogs doing tricks, balloons, free food, and a fishing derby.  We missed the fishing derby but brought our poles and fished anyway.

We didn't catch anything at all, so it was a frustrating day at the fishing hole!

Gracie's face paint from Moberly's Relay for Life made it though the whole day.  We went there after ragball practice on Friday, and it still looks nearly perfect even though she slept on it and wore it all day Saturday.

Game One

Ella's first time at bat.  They pitch the ball five times, and if you can't hit it from the coach you get to hit from the tee.

That's exactly what happened on her first at bat.  She popped it pretty good though, and got to run the bases!

The YMCA official helped Ella adjust her grip on the second at bat, and she hit from the coach.

Ella with her friend Peyton.  They are in dance class together, too!

After the game they had to line up for high-fives!

Grandpa was glad he could make it to Ella's game!

Ragball Practice

We signed Ella up for ragball through our YMCA.  She has been excited all day because tonight was their first (and only) practice.
Ella still has a black eye from a Frisbee hitting her and giving her a goose egg.  It makes her look pretty tough on the ball field!

Brent went on the field with Ella to help her learn the game.

Ella liked playing first base since lots of balls came her way.

She never knew who to throw the ball back to, though.

That batting helmet couldn't be any bigger on her!  It was a struggle to keep it on her little head.  Tomorrow is their first game, so we'll see how it goes!

Girl Scout Awards Banquet

Tonight was the Girl Scouts banquet where they got their patches for the year and their prizes for cookie sales.  Before that portion of the banquet, they had a lesson on proper table setting and etiquette at a meal.
Each girl had to use what they learned and set their spot at the table.  Now I can put Gracie to work at our dinner table!

Gracie was recognized as being the top salesperson for our troop during the cookie sales.  She sold over 400 boxes thanks to her Mama and Aunt B in Unionville and her Nana in Moberly.  They each helped her sell cookies in their work places.  She earned some special patches and lots of fun prizes!

A lot of her troop couldn't make it tonight, but this is probably half of the girls with their leader, Anna.

Anna is our neighbor, and Gracie has loved being in her troop.  This was Anna's last year as troop leader since her own family is keeping her very busy.  Hopefully Gracie will like her new troop leader just as well.

White Squirrel

This is the white squirrel that had moved into our neighborhood.  Everyone was enjoying him very much.  One of the neighbors came down this week to tell me he got hit by a car.  It was honestly pretty sad to hear.  I usually saw him early in the morning when I was running, so I'll miss looking for him everyday.
