A Fun Weekend at Home

Weekends at home are a rare commodity lately. We enjoy the traveling, but it gets tiring at times. The girls both seemed to enjoy a little time at home this weekend. Ella was playing away on her play mat, and next thing I knew she was fast asleep.
Gracie was quietly entertaining herself after church today, and when I went to check on her she had written Ella's name on her Magna Doodle. I thought that it was especially impressive since we have never done that before and I didn't prompt her to do it. She just wrote it all on her own. Last week I bought wooden letters that spelled Ella for her room, and we talked about what letters make up her name, so I guess she remembered.

Brent hasn't been on here in a while, but that's just because he's still busy. He has summer school until about 2:30 p.m. everyday, and then he comes home and starts working in the basement. He was glad to get a lot done this weekend. I think we are nearing the finish line. He is laying some of the flooring right now, and then we just have to put in the doors and trim and have the carpet laid. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but the point is that he has been working so hard to get our home finished. Some day soon I'll post some pictures of the house.

Yeah Gracie!!! Good work!

I look forward to Brent posting something in the near future. I know you are happy to see an end to the work in sight.

I'm in school too. I'm there from 7:45 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday. With traffic I'm on the road at 6:45 p.m. and don't get home until 5:00 p.m. or so. It makes for a long day. Good thing --- 14 days left!!!

Gracie is so smart. She is such a quick learner.

So, at least Brent gets some kind of break -- or at least I hope he does. Now I'll toot my horn. While all you teachers/staff get the summers off, some of us have to work LONGER hours over the summer. Yep, I just got home around 9:30 p.m. tonight after a long orientation program. Had to stay all night at Western last Thursday night for a program. Went to work at 7 a.m. last Tuesday. Have back-to-back programs next week which will require me to work late Friday night then I get to work on Saturday. Yea! Yeah right. This schedule goes on the rest of the summer. Are you playing your violin for me yet? I need all the sympathy I can get since all my friends are enjoying their summer. Yes, I'm envious. Okay, enough crying to you Emily. I seriously hope you get to spend some time with Brent -- that is, quality time which doesn't require fixing up your home. :-)

P.S. I might be busy, BUT....have you ever noticed I always try to take time to check my friend's blog. Yep, I have to check to see what my Doolin girls are up to.

Yes, I do feel sorry for you Vian. I never really thought about all of the summer recruiting and preparing you would have to do to get ready for next fall. Can't you hear my violin playing? I definitely appreciate you taking the time to check the blog and to leave comments. I love the comments because then I know who is reading it! I hope you can get some rest soon.

Dana,
I also feel for you with the St. Louis traffic. It was amazing how much heavier it was when we were there last weekend. The rerouting they are doing definitely makes things more congested. I'm sure you will be glad when it's over.
