Welcome to our blog. Brent is a principal, Emily teaches fourth grade, and Gracie and Ella are our little angels. We use this blog as our family scrapbook, so feel free to read away. However, I won't be surprised if you find our daily happenings to be dull! :-)

Ain't
We were reading books the other night before bed when Gracie heard "God Bless The U.S.A." playing on the television in the background. She stopped reading to tell me "Mommy, you can say ain't if you are singing that song. It's okay. You know, there ain't no doubt I love this land. But we wouldn't say, 'I ain't going to the factory today.'" I got cracked up at the whole conversation, but mostly about her choice of places we wouldn't go. I don't know what made her think of a factory. Wouldn't you think school, church, the ice cream store, library etc. would have been a more appropriate choice for a 5 year old? You just never know with kids, do you?!
