Yesterday I was sitting in my chair talking to Ella and probably being very silly when Gracie approached us. She said, "Stop talking to Ella." I said, "Why?" I was expecting to hear Gracie say that I needed to play with her, but instead I got something I hadn't bargained for. Gracie said, "Babies can't talk." I told her, "I know that, but they like to listen to people talking to them." Gracie looked at me and said, "Are you thick in the head?" No joke!!! That's what she said. I looked at her like she was a complete stranger and said, "Where did you hear that?" She started grinning because she knew she had said something funny. Come to find out it's a line from Disney's Tarzan. Who knew that she could use a new phrase in the proper context?!
I am taking my turn at being sick. It officially hit on Sunday, and Monday I started antibiotics. I'm a little concerned that it's day 3 and I still feel miserable. I'm trying to stay perky, but it's really hard. Gracie is feeling a lot better, but is still plenty whiney. She is super clingy too, and I don't think anyone likes being clung to when they are sick. It's a challenge to not snap at her. This too shall pass, right?

I am not the least bit surprised Gracie used that quote in the right context but I would have died laughing when she would have said it. Gracie looks so grown up in this picture. Her hair looks much thicker and longer. Simply adorable!!! Love the pose.

Love the "thick head" story. My advisees will get a kick out it. They love my Gracie stories. You'll have to bring her for a visit sometime - they'd love to see her. (Sure - she's clam up, but she'd get tons of attention.) They love the pictures and stories.
Emily sorry to hear your sick. I hope by now your starting your recovery. Love that story! I share Gracie stories with my co workers. They all got a kick out of this one! Feel better soon! I showed Lorre Long Ella's pictures. Do you remember Lorre? She sits behind us in church most of the time. She thought Ella looked just like Gracie who she thinks looks just like Brent. Go figure huh!
I am feeling much better today, thankfully! It's like my antibiotics finally took hold in the night. I do remember Lorre and I guess it doesn't shock me too much that she would think Ella looks like Gracie. And yes, they both look like Brent. That's ok with me. I'm so glad you enjoy our stories. I figured people got sick of them, so it's nice to hear that you like them.
Sick of your stories? Are you kidding us? You entertain us so please don't ever think we tire of reading about them. We talk about them with each other. We laugh WITH YOU.
Oh Em This is so funny. Keep up the posting I check everyday to see whats new in the Doolin household. I guess my way of keeping you here in Kahoka, HUH?? I hope you feel better soon, this year it just keeps holding on so I hope that is not the case for you. Miss ya!! Jena
