Show Off

Since Gracie is now in summer school getting ready for Kindergarten in the fall, Ella and I have been spending a lot of time together alone. It is certainly different when I just have one child around. Ella isn't as chatty as Gracie and doesn't require as much energy (most of the time!). I have been noticing Ella changing a little during this change. Now that we have the mornings alone, I find it easy to run errands early when it's just the two of us. What I have noticed is that everywhere we go, Ella will watch people and try to get them to wave at her. She does it all the time! Even if we are just in our driveway and a car drives by, she stops what she is doing to wave. I was telling my dad about it today when I took him to Columbia for a doctor's appointment, and she showed him exactly what I was talking about as soon as we arrived. We entered the doctor's building and Ella instantly turned on the charm and began waving at anyone who would look her way. Any attention just makes her determine to be cuter somehow, so it gets to be something of a performance. We are sure getting a kick out of her right now.
After Dad's appointment, he treated us to some Culver's ice cream. Ella was charming all the workers behind the counter by walking over their way and smiling and waving. They were all commenting about how sweet she was. Ella saw one of the workers come out to clean some tables and instantly turned her attention to him and was trying to get him to look at her. She was staring him down in this picture, and it was just so funny. He finally turned around and saw her, she smiled and waved, and then ran back to us. The next picture shows the sweet expression on her face after her successful encounter!

There is just no way to adequately express how fun Ella is right now. Gracie and Ella have certainly enriched our lives! Brent and I are very lucky to have such sweet girls!

As my mother is fond of saying, Ella and Gracie are lucky to have you and Brent for parents.

The girls certainly are treasures.

How sweet! Children certainly are blessings, precious gifts from God. I couldn't imagine our lives without ours:) Enjoy those moments when they are small, they are 16 and driving before you know it!
